OK COWGIRL RELEASES NEW SINGLE “IT WASN’T YOU, IT WAS THE FEELING”

(New York, NY – March 4, 2026) – Brooklyn-based project Ok Cowgirl returns with their new standalone single It Wasn’t You, It Was The Feeling”, out March 4 via Easy Does It Records. Produced and mixed by Alex Farrar (MJ Lenderman, Wednesday, Indigo De Souza), the track captures the dizzying blur between infatuation and something deeper, landing on the sharp clarity of self-awareness.

Flowing between rose-colored whimsy and emphatic questioning, “It Wasn’t You, It Was The Feeling” arrives at a quiet but powerful realization: sometimes we are not chasing a person, but the rush they awaken in us. Surrounded by saccharine synths, sweeping guitars, and feathery, dual-layered drums, the indie pop ballad feels both intimate and expansive.

The single was recorded after the band had already wrapped tracking during a recent studio session, giving it the unfiltered energy of a creative victory lap. “When I listen back, I can hear the confidence of having been in the studio for ten days straight,” shares frontwoman Leah Lavigne. “It felt like doing a victory lap. The song reflects on confusing the thrill of connection with actually having feelings for someone. It’s about chasing that high and realizing the difference.”

“We had been joking about Alex becoming the sixth member of Ok Cowgirl,” says Lavigne. “On our last day of recording, he surprised us by setting up a second drum kit in the live room and proposing that both he and our drummer Matt play on the song. It was such a fun moment. We absolutely adore working with Alex, and having him in the room playing alongside us made it feel electric.”

The band will be celebrating the new single release with a live show on March 6 at the Windjammer in Queens. Details here.

The release marks the band’s first new music since 2024’s Couldn’t Save Us From My Gut, which earned Ok Cowgirl a spot in Spotify’s Fresh Finds “Class of 2024.” On the heels of a high-profile sync placement of Little Splinters” in Netflix’s Finding Her Edge - a Top 5 U.S. series on the streaming network.

Ok Cowgirl continues to carve out a space in the indie landscape with emotionally resonant storytelling and dynamic live performances. Led by Leah Lavigne, the project has become known for balancing vulnerability with anthemic release, pairing shimmering instrumentation with sharp emotional insight.
