"In 2022, Brooklyn’s Colatura delivered a debut album which paid homage to aughts-era radio pop-rock as much as it drafted off the 2020s dream-pop revival. Following their And Then I’ll Be Happy LP later this year will be an EP titled If I’m Being Honest which serves as a continuation of those split aesthetic allegiances as Jennica Best narrates the proceedings with wistful vocals chronicling bouts of self-reflection." - FLOOD MAGAZINE
About Colatura:
Colatura makes music that lives in the in-between: sometimes dreamy, sometimes heavy, and laced with fuzzy guitars, undeniable hooks, and raw storytelling. Long a fixture in the Brooklyn scene, the band relocated to Pittsburgh in 2024 and now splits their time between both cities.
On April 9th, Colatura released I Wanna Get Better, the lead single from their upcoming EP If I’m Being Honest, out August 1st via Easy Does It Records. Produced by Nixon Boyd (Hollerado, Dizzy), the EP plays like a series of late-night confessionals - introspective, nostalgic, aching, and ultimately cathartic. It marks a new chapter for the band, expanding on the melodic, dreamy indie rock of their 2022 debut LP And Then I’ll Be Happy and their 2024 A/B side Do You Miss Her / Suffer Dude, which was produced by Aron Kobayashi Ritch (Momma, Kills Birds, Been Stellar).
Colatura’s music has earned praise from outlets like FLOOD, Brooklyn Vegan, Under The Radar, Austin Town Hall, and Atwood Magazine, and landed spots on Spotify’s All New Rock and regular radio rotation at stations like KEXP and WYEP, where they also performed a live set this past February. Described live as “like sunshine streaming out of an amp with the volume set at nine,” Colatura has shared a stage with bands such as Slow Pulp, Mamalarky, Nation of Language, Toledo, Pom Pom Squad, Jessica Lea Mayfield, and will be supporting Blondshell in Pittsburgh this November.
With performances at SXSW, Capitol Hill Block Party, NXNE, New Colossus, and the WYEP Summer Music Festival under their belt, Colatura is carving out their place in the indie rock landscape. Following the EP, the band will hit the road for US and European tours later this year.
